Halloween Lights & Special Effects to Bring the Scene to Life at Night

Lights, cameras, action! No haunted house is Halloween-ready without the disorienting flash of strobe lights or the ominous glow of black lights that make fluorescent blood splatters seem to leap from the walls. No yard is complete without spotlights to draw attention to the key props in the horror scene, or string lights to punctuate a more kid-friendly decorating theme.

Party City offers a broad selection of Halloween lights and special effects machines: compact strobe lights, string lights, fluorescent black light fixtures, and LED candles for the jack-o'-lantern perched on your porch. 

All lights are UL listed; many smaller lights, like the compact strobes, are battery-operated, freeing you to position them in the optimal location without regard for power outlets and extension cords. Place them virtually anywhere — as long as batteries last, they flash for several hours, and with some compact models you can display up to six pre-programmed light shows.

Halloween string lights: Kid-friendly string lights feature pumpkins, smiling ghosts and spiders, and other holiday favorites. They're suitable for indoor and outdoor use in all kinds of weather. For apartment dwellers, string lights may be the only Halloween decoration needed to enliven a window or porch railing.

Strobes & black lights: Battery-operated strobe lights are always popular – they're cheap, so that you can purchase as many as you need without straining the budget, and they usually offer the convenience of cord-free mounting on a table top or wall. Some strobes come equipped with sound effects. As for black lights, these are an absolute essential for indoor haunted Halloween scenes and luminescent props.

LED candles & tealights: LED lights provide long-lasting and safe lighting for jack-o'-lanterns and table sets. They can also serve as accents for a walkway. Placed in Halloween-themed bags, they transform an ordinary walk into a magical path lined with luminaries.

Prop lighting: These include light-up inflatable props, decorative props like Halloween lanterns, and porch and yard accents like light-up plastic jack-o'-lanterns. Most prop lighting is battery-operated, although some of the larger props may require a corded connection.

Spotlights & projectors: Projectors cast a template image onto a screen or wall. This could be a lightning strike, a spooky pumpkin, or other Halloween image. Some projectors come with multiple templates and turn themselves off automatically when the "show" is over. 

Spot lights work exactly like stage spots, only in miniature. They often run on batteries; some spots may have a corded option as well. Some units emit sound and can project an array of colors.

Fog machines & ground foggers: A fogger creates the dense, low-lying fog you see in the movies. Graveyard sets take on a whole new layer of fright when the ground fogger goes to work; picture the dense, eerie fog of a classic Hollywood horror film. Fog machines produce lighter mist that extends from floor to ceiling. This helps amplify the lighting effect of a haunted house or Halloween party.
